A World of Dreams

World of drams

“World of Dreams” is the name of this stamp set.  To me, it provokes  calm, serene, wishful feelings just saying the name!  Then looking at the stamps themselves provoke that same feeling.  What do YOU think?  How does a “world of dreams” effect YOU?

Today’s card is a little more intricate than the others this week, and uses a few more “gadgets,” yet it’s really not difficult to make.  I started with a card base of Old Olive Card card stock.  Then I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock to 5″ X 3 3/4″ to give it a larger border of the Old Olive color.  I stamped the large “flower” (weeds?) image on each end of this piece.

For the center “bird” image I used a “HUFF” technique.  I used the “paint brush” end of the Stampin’ Write markers to color the rubber on the stamp.  This allowed me to color the leaves Old Olive, the branches and nest Soft Suede and the birds a blue (I think it was Pacific Point, but I put the markers away already!)  Then I “huffed and puffed” on the stamp and blew some breath on it to add some moisture in case the ink had dried out while I was coloring and stamped it on the Very Vanilla.

A little honesty here – I’m a little concerned with this technique of getting my marker points too close to another ink color and changing my markers color, so sometimes I don’t get the colors to meet close enough and leave “holes” in the image when I stamp.  Stampin’ Write Markers to the rescue, just flip them over to the fine point end and draw in whatever’s missing.  I also added “eyes” to the birds this way – just a dot will do!  I also used the darker Early Espresso Stampin Write Marker to add some “sticks” to the nest.  I love the variety and options these markers give you in your creativity endeavors.

Once I was happy with the birds and nest, I cut the image out with the Oval Collection Famelit Dies and the Big Shot.  Using the Magnetic Platform allowed me to frame this the way I wanted it to “grow.”  I’ve seen this branch growing differently, and next time I might change it, but this time I wanted it this way.  Since the Oval Collection Framelit Dies are sized to “frame” each other, I used the next larger one to cut from Old Olive card stock.  Notice that the width of the frame on the oval is consistent with the “frame” of the Very Vanilla piece on the card.

The oval with the image is attached to the Old Olive oval with  Stampin Dimensionals and the Old Olive oval is attached to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish this off, I used the sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set and punched it out with the Large Oval Punch.  I then TWO of these shapes with from the Old Olive card stock and layered the sentiment piece between these two, again, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Since I used one Stampin’ Dimensional to attach this piece to the larger oval, I used TWO Stampin’ Dimensionals – one stacked on top of the other on the right side so it appears “flat.”
