Hello Spring!

hello spring

Hello, Spring!  Yesterday was the first day of Spring.  I’ve always thought it was the 21st, but now it’s the 20th!  Guess I should keep up with the times? eh?

Anyway, I made this card to welcome the new season, even though we had a cold front come in on Saturday and it does NOT feel like Spring around here!  Since we had lots of warm weather last week though, our grass is growing, and flowers are starting to bloom – it does LOOK like Spring here.  I hope it does where you live – or is at least beginning to!

For this card I started with a card base of Tangelo Twist card stock  (Tangelo Twist is one of the 2014-2016 In-Colors, so we’ll soon be saying Good-bye to it!  I love this shade of orange and will miss it greatly!)  I then added a narrower layer of the “dotted Swiss”  Daffodil Delight paper from the Farmer’s Market Designer Series Paper collection.  The wreath is from the Circle of Spring Photopolymer stamp set.  I colored it in with a variety of Stampin’ Write Makers a few weeks ago when I needed some “color therapy.”  I don’t recall exactly which ones I used.  It’s not important, use the ones YOU like!  (Heads up! – Saturday I’ll post a similar card from the same “color therapy” session! – be sure to check back!)

I cut the wreath out with the Big Shot and the Wonderful Wreath Framelit Dies.  The stamps have a little mark at the top that you should use when stamping.  It looks ugly, but you won’t see it in the finished product.  The matching die has a similar marking. When you line these up, you get cuts in the right area!  The inside piece also has a marking to “point” you in the right direction!  I cut out a wreath out of Tangelo Twist card stock to put behind the Whisper White one, giving the card a little more color.

To finish off the wreath, I tied a bow of 1/2″ Wild Washibi Seam Binding and attached to the wreath with Glue Dots.

The sentiment is stamped from the Circle of Spring set.  I punched it out with the Label Bracket Punch and then decided that was too big.  After much thought (seriously, I was too lazy to get up and find another punch! :)) I put the piece back in the punch and carefully punched again.  You do this by inserting the card stock through the hole and only put in the parts you want to cut out.  It’s a little tricky, but produces some fun shapes.  After a couple more times, I came up with this shape and put it on the piece of card stock that came from the inside of the wreath (after I trimmed off that little “arrow” I mentioned above!)  I think it “grows” on you and is a real “one of a kind” shape.  What do you think?  Leave a comment and let me know if you like this or not! — I’m open to criticism.  haha!

Speaking of COMMENTS—- do you have questions about stamping?  Perhaps you’d like to know HOW to do something? or which type of stamp sets are best for you? or which products to start with? or if a stamping business would be good for you?  Leave your comments HERE and I’ll write a post to answer your questions!
